Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Cookbooks (Or Food Related Books)

(The above picture was taken and altered by me for the purpose of this post. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish.)

Hello Readers!

So guess what …. I don’t like to cook. It is not something I have any knack or skill for, it’s not something I aspire to learn how to do, and the few times I have cooked, I can honestly say it is NOT something I enjoy doing.

Yes, I love food! And I love to eat all that yummy food. But I don’t necessarily love preparing that food. Mainly because I don’t necessarily understand how cooking works. Don’t get me wrong, I know the basic concepts, and in a pinch I could make myself breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but I don’t necessarily understand what spices work well with each other. Outside of using a thermometer I don’t necessarily know when meat is fully cooked.

Cooking isn’t an exact science, it’s a little to free form in my opinion. And that is why I will forever choose baking over cooking a savory dish. I like the exactness of baking, I like knowing that what I put into a sweet dish, will turn out as it is supposed to.

With that said, it’s not surprising to hear that I don’t have many cookbooks or food themed books to share with you today. However, there is one cookbook that does hold a very special place in my heart …

Eat Like a Gilmore: The Unofficial Cookbook for Fans of the Gilmore Girls by Kristi Carlson.

There is only one reason why I bought this book: because I am a HUGE Gilmore Girls fan. I watched the show from the very first pilot episode to the very last one. I binged the Netflix reboot in one day, and have watched it several times since.

I like how this cookbook allows readers and fans of the show to step into the Gilmore world, and experience the food that Lorelai and Rory love so much! And I love that, if you so choose, you can whip up some of this food yourself. Dare I say it, but after flipping through this book it has made me want to try my hand at whipping up a classic Luke’s Diner recipe.

So there you have it readers … the one and only cookbook I will ever read and own. How about you? What are your favorite cookbooks/food themed books? Please share!
